Koulut ovat taas alkaneet, ja olen nyt siis virallisesti lukion toisen vuoden oppilas eräässä IB koulussa. (Luultavasti postauksista pystyy ainakin ajan mittaan päättelemään mikä koulu on kysessä, mutta ainakin toistaiseksi en paljasta kouluni nimeä turvallisuus/anonyymius syistä.) Myös uskollinen Mac Book Pro läppärini sanoi sopimuksensa irti ja on parhaillaan huollossa, mikä vaikuttaa mm. kuvien laatuun, sillä en voi lisätä kamerallani ottamia kuvia iPadilla. Pahoittelut tästä.
The schools have begun, and I am now officially a second year Upper-Secondary student in an IB school (I think that the school will be quite easy to figure out, but at least for now I am not mentioning the name for the sake of my safety/anonymity). My loyal Mac Book Pro is also being fixed at the moment, which impacts for example the quality of photos as I cannot add once I've taken with my camera since I'm using my iPad.
Perjantaina 9. päivä olin liikkeellä Helsingissä mm. käydäkseni koulullani tapaamisessa. Kampin aukiolla minut pääsi yllättämään kansainvälinen toritapahtuma, jossa oli todella hienoa vierailla. Mukaan tarttuikin italialaista kakkua :)
Friday the 9th I was in Helsinki for example to attend a meeting at my new school. In the Kamppi square I got surprised by an international market event, which was a great experience. I bought some Italian cake while visiting.

Koulu alkoi sateisissa merkeissä, mutta se ei haitannut sopeutumista taikka kokemusta mitenkään. Porukka on loistavaa ja opettajat vaikuttavat hyviltä. Uskonkin selviäväni seuraavasta kahdesta vuodesta hienosti.
The schools began in rainy weather, which didn't impact getting used to my school or the experience much at all. People are amazing and the teachers seem good. I honestly believe that I will survive the next two years reasonably well.

Läksyjä olllessa vähän olen viettänyt paljon aikaa kävelemällä lähimetsissä ja nauttimalla luonnosta jota Pekingissä oli niin kovin vähän. Tuntuu niin paljon paremmalta kun puut eivät ole suorissa linjoissa. Monena päivänä kävelyihin on mennyt tuntikaupalla aikaa.
Whenever I haven't had much homework I've spent a lot of time walking in the forrests nearby and by enjoying the nature which Beijing had so little. Feels much better when the trees aren't in perfect lines. Many days I've spent hours on these walks.
Metsästä voi löytää kaikennäköistä, mm kynttilän. Ilmeisesti jonkun romanttiset suunnitelmat eivät aivan onnistuneet.

Yksi lempiasioistani koulun käymisessä Helsingissä on koulumatkani kävelyosuus. Jopa Pekingissä asuin kaupungin laidalla, aivan koulun vieressä, joten matkalla ei ollut koskaan mitään erityisen kiinnostavaa. Nyt kun pääsen helposti liikkumaan kaupungin keskustassa, nautin siitä todella. Helsinki on upea kaupunki.
One of my favorite things about going to school in Helsinki is the walking bit of my way to school. Even in Beijing I lived on the edge of the city, right next to my school, and so there wasn't much interesting things on the way.ä. Now that I have the chance to easily see the downtown area, I truly enjoy it. Helsinki is a beautiful city.

Torstaina kävin tutustumassa ensimmäistä kertaa Helsingin Taiteiden yöhön. Vietimme illan kaupungissa siskoni sekä hyvän ystäväni kanssa, ja vaikka näkemistä olikin niin tapahtuma ei ollut yhtä vaikuttava kuin olin antanut itseni odottaa, ja uskonkin että ilmeisesti perinteisestä juomisesta saattaa puolikiinnostuneella olla paljolti kiinni miten mielenkiintoisena tapahtuman näkee. Silti kokemisen arvoista, ja ensi vuonna toivon mukaan uudelleen. Koin myös positiivisen yllätyksen nähdessäni pari vanhaa tuttua, hienoa tavata molemmat :)
On Thursday I visited the "Night if the Arts" event of Helsinki for the first time. We spent the evening in the city together with my sister and my good friend, and even though there was a lot to see, the event wasn't as amazing as I had made myself to expect. I think that the apparenly quite traditional drinking may be for the half-heartedly interested what makes the event interesting. Still, it was an event worth experiencing, and hopefully I'll be able to attend again next year. I also had a positive surprise when meeting couple of old aquaintances, nice meeting both.

Eilen olikin suuri päivä lukiolaisille monista kouluista, kuten myös omalle koululleni: nasut. Koska itse missasin lukion ensimmäisen vuoden, en ole varsinaisesti itse ollut nasutettavana, vanhassa koulussani lukion ekoja (siellä 9. lk) vain hyväntahtoisesti härnätään asiasta koko ensimmäinen lukiovuosi. Oli todella mahtavaa päästä taas osalliseksi yhteen perinteeseen jonka olisin Kiinaan jäädessä missannut, ja koska olen ilkeä ihminen, nauroin ykkösille enemmän kuin olisi ollut ehkä reilua...
Yesterday was an mportant day for man upper secondary students, including those from my school: nasut (Nasutus is a tradition of Finnish Upper-Secondary schools, an unofficial school event which functions as a rite of passage for the new, youngest students for them to officially become a part of the community.) Since I missed the first year myself, I did not experience that part myself as in my old school the fresmen were only half-heartedly mocked for being so young the whole year. Being part of this tradition which I would have missed if I stayed in Beijing was amazing, and because I am a mean person I may have laughed at the first year students more than would had been fair...
